03000	Gentlemen:
03100
03200	We request permission to fabricate a high speed processor, as
03300	described in our recent proposal (Reference 1), which has since been
03400	funded by your office (Reference 2).
03500
03600	The University is financially unable to provide funds from its own
03700	resources to buy this equipment, so we request that contractual funds
03800	be authorized for this purpose.
03900
04000	The justification for this project is given in our proposal
04100	(Reference 1). It is not possible to predict completion dates with
04200	accuracy, since some of the tasks involve sequential performance by
04300	up to four contractors and we are dealing with some of them for the
04400	first time. Nevertheless, if we obtain formal approval by 1 August
04500	1972, the following completion dates appear plausible.
04600 printed circuit cards designed 1972 Sept. 15
04700 backpanel and wire wrap cards layed out Nov. 1
04800 all cards fabricated Dec. 1
04900 backpanel wiring Dec. 15
05000 all cards tested 1973 Feb. 1
05100 processor assembled Feb. 15
05200 processor debugged June 1 ?
05300
05400	By a copy of this letter, I am requesting Mr. Jack Ducey of ONR to
05500	check on availability, using the enclosed forms DD1419.
